IDF Chief Vows: ‘We Won’t Let Hezbollah Terrorists Rebuild’

IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir visited the 91st Division in the Northern Command today (Wednesday), where he conducted an operational assessment of the northern sector. During the visit, Zamir reviewed the forces’ deployment and approved the principles governing the IDF’s defensive posture in the area.

Zamir said the 91st Division stands on the front line of the defense of Israel’s northern communities and that the IDF is currently operating from forward defensive positions, including deep inside enemy territory beyond the border. He said forces continue working to eliminate threats and strengthen the protection of northern residents.

“The campaign is not yet over, and the challenges are still ahead of us,” the chief of staff said. He added that the IDF has achieved significant successes against Hezbollah, but made clear that the objective now is to prevent the terrorist organization from recovering and reestablishing itself in southern Lebanon.

“We have achieved many significant operational successes and weakened the Hezbollah terrorist organization,” Zamir said. “The IDF is determined to clear the area south of the Litani River of Hezbollah’s presence, while continuing to advance the overarching objective of disarming the terrorist organization.”

Zamir also made clear that Israel does not currently consider the Lebanese Armed Forces sufficiently effective on the ground to achieve that objective through the preferred diplomatic route. “This objective cannot be advanced through a desired agreement with the Lebanese government as long as the Lebanese Armed Forces do not significantly improve their effectiveness on the ground,” he said.

The chief of staff stressed that Israel would continue acting to prevent Hezbollah from recovering from the blows it has suffered. “We will not allow Hezbollah to rebuild its strength, restore its capabilities or reestablish terrorist infrastructure in the area,” Zamir said.

During the visit, Zamir was also presented with robotic capabilities and advanced weapons used by intelligence-gathering soldiers, the Yahalom special engineering unit and reservists in the division. The chief of staff used the demonstration to reveal another element of the IDF’s evolving battlefield strategy: Within months, the military plans to inaugurate a new Robotics Arm developing capabilities across all three operational domains.

“The battlefield is changing rapidly,” Zamir said. “This challenge requires us to remain in constant motion, learn quickly and continuously improve. As part of the lessons we have learned during the war, we are developing new capabilities and expanding our use of manned and unmanned systems in order to increase operational effectiveness.”

“In the coming months, we will inaugurate the Robotics Arm, which will develop capabilities in the air, at sea and on land,” he added. “What you see here is only the beginning.”

Israir Sets Sights on Japan as New Direct-Flight Route

Shortly after completing the move that brought it to New York for the first time with a direct flight, Israir is setting its sights on a new long-haul destination: Japan. Group CEO Uri Sirkis revealed that the company began the licensing process yesterday that could eventually allow it to operate flights to Japan, with Thailand also expected to follow.

Sirkis made the announcement during Israir’s inaugural flight to New York, which landed at JFK, in a message delivered to passengers. According to Sirkis, the company views the New York route as a significant step in its development—but for Israir, it is only the beginning. The move toward Japan comes as Israir expands its long-haul operations. The company has invested $85 million in the acquisition of wide-body aircraft, with the aim of increasing its ability to operate routes to more distant destinations.

At the same time, Israir continues to invest in infrastructure designed to support its international operations. The company cited investments in technological systems, service infrastructure and aircraft maintenance, including the establishment of a heavy-maintenance facility in Larnaca at an investment of more than $10 million. But alongside aircraft and infrastructure, Sirkis also emphasized the company’s employees as a central component of its expansion. Israir’s “human infrastructure,” he said, is the company’s most important infrastructure.

The launch of New York service is the first step already underway. Tickets for the inaugural flight went on sale only about a week before departure, with approximately 240 passengers aboard.

For Israeli travelers, Japan is not yet an Israir destination that can be booked. The beginning of the licensing process does not mean the route has been approved or that a launch date has been set, but it does indicate that the company is actively exploring the possibility of adding the distant destination to its route network.

So while the New York flight marks Israir’s entry into the world of long-haul travel, the airline is already beginning to explore its next destination—this time, on the other side of the world.

In one post, the suspect praised the terrorists who carried out the arson attack at Gilad Farm, naming them as those who “will merit martyrdom and paradise at the highest levels.” In another post, he called for armed struggle and confrontation with Israel and to “put an end to Zionism.”

The suspect was transferred for interrogation at the Binyamin Police Station and was remanded in custody at the end of questioning. Police said his investigation is ongoing.

In a separate case, interrogation concluded for a ‘Palestinian’ man in his 20s, a resident of the village of Bardala, and an indictment was filed against him for incitement and support of a hostile organization. According to the facts in the indictment, the defendant expressed support for the Hamas terror organization and support for its operations in his posts.

Among other things, the defendant posted a video over the past month composed of two segments. The first shows a hit and explosion on an IDF tank in the Gaza Strip, with the Hamas emblem embedded on the video. The second segment incorporated footage from the October 7 terror attack, showing terrorists climbing onto a burning tank, seizing a wounded soldier who was abducted from it, dragging him, and holding him.

Israeli Who Fled ISIS Freed After Decade in Iraqi Prison

After more than a decade in an Iraqi prison, Benjamin Ben Limor was released today (Wednesday) and is expected to make his way back to Israel in the coming days. His release follows an agreement reached in Iraq in late 2025 that led to the cancellation of the death sentence imposed on him in 2020.

The ordeal began in 2014, when Ben Limor traveled to visit his grandparents in Iraqi Kurdistan as ISIS was seizing territory across the region—and joined local efforts to defend against the terrorists. In 2015, he was caught in an ambush by a taxi driver who realized he spoke Hebrew and threatened to turn him over to the terrorist organization.

During the struggle that followed, the taxi driver was wounded and later died of his injuries, leading to Ben Limor’s immediate arrest, harsh interrogations and ultimately a death sentence by hanging handed down by a Kurdish court. Ahead of his return to Israel, Ben Limor is expected to join the Foundations Program at Aish HaTorah in Jerusalem and begin a process of rehabilitation and initial readjustment after his long years of imprisonment.

As he prepares to arrive in Israel, Ben Limor is now expected to begin a new chapter in his life. At the initiative of advocates and others who accompanied his case, arrangements have been made for him to join Aish HaTorah in Jerusalem, which has already sent him an official acceptance letter to the Foundations Program at its Old City study hall. Alongside preparations for his arrival, he is expected to undergo a rehabilitation process focused on his initial readjustment, obtaining clothing and religious items, and meeting his basic needs after more than a decade behind bars.

IDF Kills Hamas Nukhba Terrorist Who Led Oct. 7 Kidnapping

The IDF struck last Thursday in the Khan Younis area of southern Gaza and eliminated Jihad Samih Mahmoud Ismail, a Hamas Nukhba terrorist.

Ismail infiltrated into Israel from southern Gaza on October 7 and took part in the clash with tank crew members from Tank No. 3 and the kidnapping of Captain Omer Neutra, Staff Sergeant Oz Daniel, and Sergeant Nimrod Cohen. In that clash, tank driver Sergeant Shaked Dahan was killed.

During the war, the terrorist was involved in ambushes against IDF forces aimed at attacking Israeli troops.

Recently, Ismail advanced terror operations against IDF forces and Israeli civilians while systematically violating the ceasefire. He was eliminated to remove the threat he posed.

IDF forces under Southern Command are deployed in the area in accordance with the agreement and will continue to operate to remove any immediate threat.

Dozens of Illegal Buildings Demolished in Judea and Samaria

The Civil Administration’s enforcement unit carried out a major operation Wednesday in Samaria and the Hebron Hills, clearing illegal encroachments and demolishing structures near new communities as part of what Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich described as a four-year push to strengthen Israeli control in the West Bank.

The operation, conducted under Smotrich’s direction in his role as minister in the Defense Ministry, removed illegal plantings and encroachments spanning roughly 20 acres of state land near Mekadeh in the Hebron Hills. Near Shira in Samaria—slated to become a major city following a historic cabinet decision—enforcement teams demolished illegal structures built close to the community.

The targeted enforcement is central to what officials call a national policy to restore full Israeli sovereignty and control in its territory, running parallel to the declaration of new communities and the advancement of statutory procedures.

The crackdown on illegal construction aims to prevent the seizure of strategic areas and enable the development, expansion and security of Jewish communities in the region.

Smotrich, who chairs the Religious Zionism party and serves as both finance minister and minister in the Defense Ministry, emphasized the significance of the move. “In the last four years, we’ve been leading a determined policy of fortifying and strengthening settlement, alongside removing threats to the area and demolishing illegal construction on an unprecedented scale,” he said. “This is what the Eisenkot-Liberman-Golan government wants to stop, and we can’t let that happen.”

Smotrich added a strategic dimension to the operation: “The demolition of structures near the Shira community takes on additional meaning when you can clearly see the houses of nearby Rosh HaAyin in the demolition photo, illustrating precisely how these communities serve as Israel’s security buffer zone. I thank the Civil Administration enforcement unit and the Settlement Administration for leading these critical moves.”

A fire broke out in an open area on the outskirts of an industrial zone in Judea. Firefighters from the Judea regional station are working to extinguish it, alongside numerous police forces from the Judea district.

Officers are operating in the area to maintain public order and direct emergency forces. Bystanders and civilians have been moved to a safe distance from the scene due to the fire.

Police said the evacuation was meant to protect public safety and allow emergency and rescue forces to operate at the scene. Additional details are expected later.

  • Katz: IDF Ready to Finish Off Hamas After Disarmament Fails

Katz: IDF Ready to Finish Off Hamas After Disarmament Fails

Defense Minister Israel Katz lashed out Wednesday at Ofer Winter, head of the Amcha Israel party and a retired IDF brigadier general, after Winter questioned why Hamas’s Rafah Brigade still exists after three years of war.

Winter wrote on social media: “3 years of war, 5 divisions that fought in Gaza and there’s still a Rafah Brigade? There’s still a Rafah Brigade?”

Winter’s post | Photo: Amcha Israel

Katz fired back: “Winter, you’re not up to date.” The defense minister said Rafah and roughly 70% of the Gaza Strip are now empty of residents, tunnels are being destroyed and buildings demolished, and the IDF is positioned along the “Yellow Line” in dozens of outposts. According to Katz, Israeli forces are surrounding the remaining 30% of the territory from all directions as part of an “unprecedented security zone” designed to protect Israeli communities and strike terrorists and threats on an ongoing basis.

Katz then addressed the current arrangement in Gaza and the issue of disarming Hamas. He said the entire situation is unfolding under a “ceasefire” that led to the release of all hostages, with the United States and accompanying nations committing “to disarm Hamas and destroy all the tunnels.”

But the defense minister added a striking statement about the likelihood that commitment will be fulfilled: “We all understand that won’t happen, and the IDF is ready—given the directive to eliminate Hamas—to complete the job so we can also implement the emigration plan.”

Katz accused Winter of leveling “distorted” criticism against the government and the IDF, comparing it to attacks from “former studio sitters” who he said hold an “outdated security concept” and ignore Israel’s achievements across multiple fronts, including Iran, Gaza, Lebanon and Syria.

“The people of Israel don’t need more of this product,” the defense minister concluded, “and it’s very worrying with regard to future scenarios.”

  • Trump Preps $2.8B Arms Deal: 40,000 Heavy Bombs for Israel

Trump Preps $2.8B Arms Deal: 40,000 Heavy Bombs for Israel

The Trump administration is preparing to sell Israel a massive arms package worth roughly $2.8 billion, including tens of thousands of heavy bombs and bunker-buster warheads, the Washington Post reported Tuesday evening. It’s the largest deal of its kind for Israel in recent years.

According to the report, the weapons package includes 40,000 bombs weighing roughly 2,000 pounds each: 20,000 MK-84 bombs and another 20,000 BLU-117 bombs. The deal is also expected to include 20,000 I-2000 bunker-buster warheads designed to strike fortified targets and structures.

The deal hasn’t received final approval yet, but according to a U.S. official involved in the details, it’s already been informally submitted to the relevant congressional committees. The Trump administration is now working to advance its approval with the leadership of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

    Photo: Moshe Shai, Flash90

The current deal is larger than previous sales of 2,000-pound bombs to Israel in recent years. In February 2025, the U.S. administration approved a deal worth roughly $2.04 billion that included up to 35,529 MK-84 or BLU-117 bomb bodies and 4,000 bunker-buster warheads.

The heavy bombs were previously at the center of a sharp dispute between Jerusalem and Washington. The Biden administration halted a shipment of them to Israel in 2024 over the war in Gaza, but after Trump returned to the White House, he reversed the decision and allowed the supply to resume. According to the Washington Post, delivering weapons orders of this scale could take several years even after the approval process is complete.
