Israel’s security establishment is preparing for the possibility of renewed fighting in the north within a short timeframe, following assessments that have taken shape in recent days. Israeli officials believe Hezbollah and Iran are operating in coordination and are closely monitoring changes and developments in the northern sector.

Against this backdrop, IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir visited Northern Command on Wednesday and delivered a message to Hezbollah: “We will not allow Hezbollah to establish terror infrastructure in the area. Any attempt by the enemy to establish itself, strengthen itself, or threaten northern communities will be met immediately and forcefully.”
The chief of staff also addressed the connection between Hezbollah and Iran, saying that “during the war, Hezbollah proved once again that it is an Iranian proxy and not a ‘Lebanese patriot.’ Its actions harmed the interests of the state of Lebanon and its citizens.”

Meanwhile, earlier that day, a terrorist who was observing Golani Brigade forces was killed, along with another terrorist who was assisting him. The incident is unusual for the recent period and adds to other changes Israel is detecting in the northern arena.
