Northern District police and Border Police forces found a backpack containing a handgun and various drugs at a school compound in Nazareth, police said. The operation took place on August 10, 2026, as part of a joint effort by the forces. Following the discovery, police arrested a suspect—a 30-year-old Nazareth resident—and took him in for questioning at the police station. Police are expected to request an extension of his detention at the Nof HaGalil-Nazareth Magistrate’s Court.
Police also said that since the beginning of the year, Northern District officers and Border Police have seized more than 570 lethal weapons in the district as part of operations against violent crime.
