A 48-year-old resident of Segev Shalom was arrested after PA forces caught him in Bethlehem Monday night carrying a massive quantity of pills suspected to be drugs and dangerous substances. Following coordination between authorities, the suspect was transferred to Israeli police at the Etzion station in the Judea district.
According to police, he was found with more than 170,000 pills suspected to be Captagon and over 17,000 Tramadol tablets. The total value of the suspected substances is estimated at over 10 million shekels. The suspect’s vehicle and the drugs were also transferred to Israeli police.
The transfer was carried out following coordination by the commander of the Bethlehem district police at the Police Coordination and Liaison Administration in the Judea and Samaria district with his counterparts in the PA. Representatives from the IDF’s Coordination and Liaison Administration also participated in the process.
Police noted that Captagon was used by Hamas terrorists during the October 7 massacre. The suspect was taken for questioning at Etzion station regarding the seized materials and on suspicion of illegally entering Area A, and is expected to be brought to court for a hearing on extending his detention.
