The Prime Minister stated that the terrorist had undergone Islamist radicalization and had intended to crash the plane with its passengers on board. He also praised Yaniv Hayun and his colleagues for their resourcefulness—calling them “heroes who averted a 9/11-scale disaster”—and addressed indications of external involvement by terrorist elements: “We are actively pursuing the investigation now: where was he sent from? And whoever sent him will pay a very heavy price.”

These remarks followed the realization in the UAE that the incident was indeed a terrorist attack. The Omani terrorist was transferred from Saudi Arabia to the UAE, where authorities have begun interrogating him. A diplomatic official stated that Israel would also participate in the investigation, seeking to determine who sent him and what his motives were.
