European pressure against Israel is escalating: Norway is advancing an unprecedented bill that would subject individuals or companies trading with Judea and Samaria to up to three years in prison.
According to Norwegian broadcaster NRK, the proposal was drafted by the Foreign Ministry in Oslo, claiming it’s designed to address what the Norwegian government defines as “escalating violence by settlers” in Judea and Samaria.

If approved, the proposal would make trade with Israeli communities a criminal offense that could lead to significant prison time. Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide estimated the law could pass in parliament as early as this fall.
“The arguments have only strengthened, because the situation in the ‘West Bank’ has deteriorated even further,” Eide told NRK. He said the fact that other Western countries are advancing measures against Israel strengthens his government’s position.

The Norwegian foreign minister also addressed the U.S. position, saying he was surprised the Trump administration hasn’t acted to stop Western initiatives on the issue: “If the big countries don’t stand by international law and human rights, then we, the other countries, will have to do it.”
