Iran's Revolutionary Guards attacked a U.S. base in Jordan with 20 missiles after the U.S. destroyed five Iranian oil tankers. Secretary of State Marco Rubio warned Iran will lose tankers every time it targets American warships.

The escalation continues: Iran’s Revolutionary Guards announced overnight Tuesday that they attacked a U.S. base in Jordan after the United States destroyed Iranian oil tankers. Interceptions were visible in Israeli skies during the strike.

Jordan’s military said 20 missiles were fired from Iran toward the kingdom. Eighteen were intercepted, and two additional missiles landed in areas far from population centers. According to the Jordanians, there were no casualties in the incident.

The Iranian attack came after U.S. Central Command confirmed it destroyed five Iranian oil tankers. Washington said the operation was carried out in response to Iran launching ballistic missiles at a U.S. Navy warship.

Iran framed the strike on the Jordanian base as retaliation for the destruction of the tankers. At the same time, the Revolutionary Guards announced they also attacked two American vessels and eight oil tankers in the Gulf as part of their response to the U.S. action.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio addressed the escalation in the Gulf and warned Tehran: “Every time Iran try to do that, they are going to lose tankers.”
