U.S. officials received the intelligence with a mix of concern and skepticism. Senior American officials view the intelligence as part of a pressure campaign by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu aimed at convincing the Trump administration to return to large-scale military operations against Iran.
Some senior U.S. officials are taking the threat seriously, while others suspect Netanyahu is trying to pull Washington back into major military operations. Gulf sources have also cast doubt on the Israeli assessment.
