President Donald Trump addressed the campaign against Iran today (Monday) in a midterm election rally speech, claiming Tehran’s military capabilities have been almost destroyed and that the Iranian regime wants to reach a deal with Washington. He also pointed to falling oil prices and the country’s economic crisis.

In his speech at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, overlooking the Reflecting Pool, Trump tied falling oil prices to American achievements against Iran. “Oil prices dropped $10 today, and this is the largest drop in oil prices in history. There has never been a single day when the price of oil fell this much—a $10 drop,” he said. The president added: “And it’s going to drop a lot more, because we’re winning against Iran, and winning easily.”
Trump went on to detail the extent of damage to Iran’s military capabilities, claiming its navy and air force have been destroyed. “Their navy has been destroyed. Their air force has been destroyed. Their planes are scattered in little pieces across runways throughout Iran.”

According to him, Iran’s air defense systems and missile industry have also taken a severe hit. “Their air defense systems have been damaged, their missile capability has dropped significantly, and their ability to produce missiles has also been greatly reduced.”
Alongside the military damage, Trump also addressed Iran’s economic situation, claiming the regime is dealing with extraordinary inflation of over 300%. Despite this, the president didn’t rule out reaching a deal with Tehran: “And they want to reach a deal, and it could definitely happen.”
