In a joint operation by Israeli police and Border Police National Guard forces, authorities uncovered a massive weapons cache in Kalansawe Sunday night. The operation, conducted in an open area in the Arab-Israeli town, led to the discovery of a large stockpile of military equipment suspected to have been stolen from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and hidden by criminal elements.

The search turned up 12 weapons, including an AK-47, three M-16 rifles, and eight handguns. Police also found six tear gas grenades, two stun grenades, three vests, and thousands of rounds of ammunition of various types. A police bomb technician was called to the scene to neutralize the threat posed by the findings.
During the operation, officers arrested two suspects—family members who were near the hiding spot. The two were taken for questioning at the Tayibe police station. All seized weapons were transferred to forensic identification labs for further evidence processing as part of the investigation.
Israel Police said the weapons seizure “represents another layer in the Central District’s ongoing fight against serious crime and illegal possession of weapons.” Police emphasized they will continue to act decisively and proactively to thwart shooting incidents and protect public safety.
