An urgent appeal was filed Monday in court against the detention of security personnel from Samaria. The appeal demands their detention be shortened or canceled, and that they be allowed to meet immediately with their attorneys—a right denied to them so far.

Samaria Regional Council head Yossi Dagan is backing the move and sharply attacking the system’s handling of the case: “I strongly protest this humiliating detention. Denying a meeting with an attorney is a draconian tool reserved for terrorists, not for those who serve and love the state. These are dedicated security personnel.”
Dagan also addressed how the arrests were carried out: “The arrest was conducted in their living room in front of their children—a traumatic experience. Alongside the need to investigate the suspicions, their basic rights and their families’ dignity must be protected. I call for them to be allowed to meet with an attorney immediately.”

Attorneys Nati Rom and Assaf Gonen from the Honenu organization, representing the detainees, said following the appeal’s filing: “This is an escalation in the use of draconian tools against our finest young men. We will fight with every tool at our disposal, because this case is not as it appears.”
