Four IDF tear gas grenades and other weapons were found hidden in a sewer near a home in Zarzir, a Muslim village in northern Israel, during an operation by Northern District police. A 20-year-old resident was arrested on suspicion of illegal weapons possession.

The incident took place last Tuesday after police raided the home following intelligence about illegal weapons being kept there. After finishing their search inside the building, officers moved to sweep the area outside the house, where they spotted a nearby sewer manhole.
When they opened the manhole, police discovered a box hidden inside containing four IDF tear gas grenades along with additional weapons. Following the discovery, the suspect was arrested. Yesterday, the Nof HaGalil Magistrate’s Court in Nazareth extended his detention until Friday, October 9. The investigation is ongoing.

According to police data, Northern District officers have seized more than 700 weapons since the beginning of the year, including dozens of tear gas grenades originating from the IDF. Police emphasize that operations against illegal weapons possession continue, aimed at preventing them from reaching criminal elements and maintaining public safety.
