British counterterrorism police announced Tuesday that they arrested a 22-year-old British man on suspicion of planning terrorist acts as part of an ongoing investigation into an incident near a major Royal Air Force base last month. The suspect was arrested in Westminster, London, in connection with the investigation surrounding an incident near RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire.

RAF Fairford is a strategically important British airbase regularly used by the United States Air Force and capable of hosting American long-range bombers, giving the investigation particular significance. The latest suspect is the seventh person arrested in connection with the case as British authorities continue investigating potential terrorist threats involving the strategically important military facility.
Six other men previously arrested in connection with the same incident have since been released on bail while the investigation against them continues. British counterterrorism authorities have not publicly announced charges against the seven suspects, and the investigation remains ongoing.
