After a long stretch when direct flights to India vanished again from Israeli travelers’ options, the route is coming back. Air India announced it will resume nonstop service between Tel Aviv and Delhi, after previous attempts to restore India routes failed.
Air India will restart the route on December 1 with five weekly flights between Tel Aviv and Delhi. For anyone planning to reach India, it marks the return of the option to fly direct instead of relying on connections.
The Tel Aviv-Delhi route has been restored before, only to be suspended again. Air India restarted flights in March 2025, but later halted Israel operations once more. Now the carrier is announcing another restart.
Air India is currently the only airline operating nonstop flights between Israel and India. During periods when the route wasn’t running, Israeli travelers flying to India had to choose mainly flights via Gulf states or European connections. Delhi is also a significant destination for passengers continuing from there to other destinations in East Asia.
Since October 7, Air India’s Israel operations have been marked by multiple suspensions and restarts. The carrier resumed the route in March 2024, suspended it in April, and brought it back in May. In August 2024, flights stopped again, and operations restarted once more in March 2025.
But that return didn’t last long either. In May 2025, after a Houthi missile strike near Ben Gurion Airport, Air India halted flights to Israel again and hasn’t operated the route regularly since. Now, more than a year later, the carrier is announcing its return and the resumption of direct flights to Delhi.
