Qatar announced Thursday that it signed an agreement with the United Nations to deliver approximately 1.3 million liters of fuel to the Gaza Strip as a grant intended, according to Doha, to support the health sector, essential services and humanitarian operations.
1+According to the Qatari Foreign Ministry, the grant is intended to help keep hospitals and medical centers operating in Gaza while enabling humanitarian organizations to continue providing services to residents. The ministry said fuel-dependent health services benefit approximately 2.1 million ‘Palestinians’ in Gaza, including children, women, the elderly and people with disabilities.
The deal comes despite extensive Israeli evidence that Hamas has exploited humanitarian aid intended for Gaza civilians—including confiscating supplies and commandeering aid trucks. The IDF has also released drone footage it says shows armed Hamas operatives firing at Gazans attempting to reach humanitarian aid.
Israeli assessments have estimated that Hamas accumulated hundreds of millions of dollars in cash and goods by exploiting aid entering Gaza. Hamas has also been accused of seizing humanitarian supplies, selling them to residents at inflated prices and pocketing the proceeds.
1+Qatar said the latest shipment is part of the assistance it has provided to Gaza since the beginning of the war. According to figures released by Doha, Qatar supplied approximately 30 million liters of fuel to the Strip between Oct. 7, 2023, and the end of March 2026. The Qatari Foreign Ministry said the new grant will also support other essential services and infrastructure dependent on fuel as part of its continuing humanitarian assistance to Gaza.
