President Trump told reporters he plans to meet with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un later this year, reviving diplomatic engagement that stalled in 2019.

President Trump told reporters Wednesday he plans to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un later this year. Trump made the announcement in remarks to the press, emphasizing that his relationship with Kim is good and that they get along very well.

Trump added that the North Korean leader has 57 nuclear bombs. According to Trump, Kim wasn’t supposed to get weapons like these, but he got them anyway. The president also said Kim Jong Un will be fine as long as the U.S. has a smart president—if it has a stupid president, things with Kim probably won’t go well. Trump already surprised the world during his first term when he became the first American president to meet with a North Korean leader. The meeting took place in the demilitarized zone between North and South Korea, where Trump crossed into North Korean territory for a few minutes—making him the first president to do that too.

Earlier this week, South Korea’s military fired warning shots after North Korean soldiers crossed the military demarcation line. Following the shots, the soldiers from the North retreated. Several North Korean soldiers crossed the demarcation line in its eastern sector—the first such violation reported by South Korea’s military this year. The soldiers from the North were apparently patrolling the area, and no further unusual activity was reported after they returned to their territory.
