The International Division of ZAKA announced on Saturday that a 35-year-old Israeli citizen was found dead in his hotel room in Bangkok, Thailand. ZAKA is currently working with local authorities to have his body released and flown to Israel. “A report was received about an Israeli citizen, approximately 35 years old, who went on vacation and stayed at a hotel in Bangkok, Thailand, and during his stay he was found dead in his room. The man is approximately 35 years old, married, and the father of one child,” ZAKA said.
Baruch Nidam, Director of the International Division of ZAKA, said: “Immediately upon receipt of the report, the ZAKA International Division team began to honor the deceased and work with local authorities to release the deceased in preparation for his flight for burial and funeral in Israel. The team is working closely with Rabbi Nehemiah Wilhelm, Chabad emissary in Thailand, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and all relevant parties to bring the deceased to burial as soon as possible.”
This is the second tragedy reported that day involving an Israeli citizen in Thailand. Earlier, it was reported that a young Israeli was killed last Wednesday in a motorcycle accident in the Ban Mu Thao area of Kanchanaburi province. According to reports from the scene, the young man was riding a heavy motorcycle and collided with a pickup truck traveling in front of him. Rescue and emergency forces called to the scene were forced to declare him dead at the scene, and his body was transferred to Phulphupphiosana Hospital in accordance with local procedure.
Thai authorities are investigating the circumstances of the accident, including the question of how the collision occurred and who among those involved is responsible for it.
