A giant billboard went up in Tehran’s ‘Palestine’ Square following the selection of Khalil al-Hayya as the new leader of the terrorist organization Hamas. The banner, erected in the heart of the Iranian capital, features al-Hayya flanked by the two Hamas leaders eliminated during the war—Yahya Sinwar and Ismail Haniyeh—with the Temple Mount and Jerusalem in the background.
Yahya Sinwar was the Hamas terror chief widely regarded as the mastermind behind the October 7 massacre in Israel, and was killed by IDF soldiers in southern Gaza in October 2024.
The billboard carries a message in Hebrew: “Sinwar’s edition, the new leader in the field.” Below that appears a message in Arabic: “Khalil al-Hayya, the occupiers’ nightmare!” The banner’s installation in Tehran comes after the announcement of al-Hayya’s selection as Sinwar’s successor as head of Hamas.
The message chosen for display in Iran’s central square demonstrates the Iranian terror regime’s continued public support for the murderous organization from the Gaza Strip, and a desperate attempt to project continuity in Hamas’s leadership following the elimination of the arch-terrorist Yahya Sinwar.
