The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran accused the United States today (Sunday) of attacking the construction site of the Darjaven nuclear power plant.
According to the organization’s statement, the site that was attacked is a facility intended for civilian use and is under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency. “Attacking a peaceful nuclear facility that is under supervision is a blatant crime against international law,” the statement read.
Tehran emphasized the importance of the site in question, noting that “Darjaven is a symbol of Iran’s self-confidence and progress.” The statement also claimed that the military action would not achieve its goal of stopping the development of the project, but would have the opposite effect: “This aggression will make the determination of experts in Iran’s nuclear industry stronger to continue the path of progress.”
