Health Ministry Shuts Down TA Hospital Operating Rooms

The Health Ministry ordered the immediate closure of operating rooms at Medica Raphael Hospital in Tel Aviv after a surprise inspection found improper procedures and severe staffing shortages that endanger patient safety.


The Health Ministry announced that following an inspection at Medica Raphael Hospital in Tel Aviv’s Atidim Park, it has ordered the immediate closure of the hospital’s operating rooms.

A surprise inspection revealed improper work procedures in the operating rooms and central sterile supply, as well as severe staffing shortages that pose a risk to patient safety.

The closure order stipulates that as of yesterday, the hospital’s operating rooms will be closed to all medical activity until the deficiencies are fully corrected.

The Ministry of Health stated that “the findings of a surprise inspection revealed that improper work processes are taking place in the operating room and in central sterile supplies, and that there is a significant shortage of personnel that poses a risk to patient safety. The terms of the closure order to cease hospital activity state that, starting yesterday, the operating rooms at the hospital will be closed to all medical activities until the deficiencies are fully corrected.”
