In a Monday speech, Avigdor Liberman, chairman of the Yisrael Beitenu party, declared his intention to recommend Yashar Chairman Gadi Eisenkot to serve as Israel’s next prime minister. Liberman joins Naftali Bennett in making the recommendation.
Liberman reiterated that he would not form a government with the Arab parties, nor one that would lean on their support. He revealed that, “the ‘Palestinian’ Authority is meddling and stands behind Ra’am and the Joint List.”
Israel’s Central Elections Committee is currently investigating what chairman Noam Solberg said were “severe suspicions” of foreign influence aiding the Arab parties during the election, dubbed the “ballot jihad” scandal.
Liberman also stated that he would not sit with Benjamin Netanyahu, and that he wouldn’t agree even if Netanyahu offers him the role as prime minister in first rotation.
