Nevşehir Province Governor Hüseyin Kök confirmed that the bodies of those killed were pulled from the rubble. However, Turkish Justice Minister Akın Gürlek warned there may be “additional potential victims” still trapped under the rocks. The incident occurred around 3:15 p.m. local time near the museum entrance.
Large search and rescue teams are working at the scene to locate anyone else trapped. The circumstances of the collapse remain unclear, but initial assessments suggest it was caused by heavy rains in the area. The Cappadocia region draws tourists from around the world for its unique rock formations created by ancient volcanic activity.
