As police make fresh arrests in the Negev over cash-for-votes schemes, ministers Smotrich and Ben Gvir are demanding that the Shin Bet interrogate Arab party leaders today. The move follows Justice Solberg's directive to trace millions in suspected hostile foreign funding funneled into Ra'am.

The high-stakes investigation into suspected foreign interference and systemic voter bribery in the Arab sector expanded significantly on Thursday morning as the Israel Police executed fresh arrests of suspects tied to organized election-day illicit financing networks.

The developments follow the initial detention of suspects in the Negev on Election Day,

where detectives seized envelopes holding tens of thousands of shekels in cash alongside official voting slips for Mansour Abbas’s Ra’am party.

Two primary suspects remain remanded in police custody through Sunday, with Thursday’s arrests expanding the evidentiary web.

The widening dragnet ignited severe criticism from senior government officials regarding earlier law enforcement conduct.

In an exclusive conversation with C14, a senior government official castigated the police’s initial public dismissals:

“We see how much the police needed our direct intervention in the Arab sector after they initially briefed journalists that there were no verified evidentiary foundations for claims of election tampering.

” The official added that the unfolding revelations point to fundamental systemic failures: “There are two possibilities—either police intelligence in the Arab sector is so weak that it borders on blindness, or they actively sought to suppress complaints regarding election purity without genuinely evaluating the physical evidence.”

In the meantime, the political leadership has demanded immediate intelligence operations against senior Arab lawmakers. Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich called for immediate Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) involvement: “The suspicion of swaying elections using foreign Islamist money is a defining test for the State of Israel. The heads of the Arab parties must be interrogated by the Shin Bet this very day. The State of Israel will not be sold to radical Islam with terror financing.”

National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir echoed the demand, framing the affair as an existential institutional assault: “The Shin Bet must order the arrest of Arab party heads suspected of involvement with Qatari cash this morning, as well as all remaining suspects in the affair—including elements linked to the Muslim Brotherhood and its subsidiaries—insofar as statutory grounds exist. This is nothing less than a political October 27!” The escalation follows formal directives from Central Elections Committee Chairman Supreme Court Justice Noam Solberg, who ordered the Shin Bet to investigate foreign funding streams and election bribery.

The national security probe accelerated after investigative reporting by Channel 14 military analyst Noam Amir revealed that materials indicate millions of shekels from hostile foreign states were funneled into local precincts to drive turnout and buy votes for Ra’am artificially. Reinforcing the investigative requests, the Likud party submitted an extensive evidentiary dossier to the police, the Shin Bet, and the Central Elections Committee, asserting that hundreds of recorded testimonies demonstrate coordinated election fraud.

“The elections in the State of Israel were stolen by Arab parties that support terrorism and seek the destruction of the Jewish state through grave criminal offenses of bribery, physical threats, violence, forgeries, and forbidden turnout software,” the Likud stated. The party’s evidentiary filings include documented testimonies of cash envelopes, direct physical intimidation against ballot-box committee members, fraudulent double voting, and irreconcilable mathematical discrepancies between cast envelopes and physical voter logs.

The convergence of ongoing police remands, high-level intelligence tracking of hostile overseas accounts, and growing political outrage has transformed “Ra’amgate” into a constitutional flashpoint, threatening the certification of final seat distributions ahead of official presidential coalition consultations.
