Israel's Central Elections Committee completed a comprehensive emergency operational protocol to ensure voting and ballot counting proceed securely under the threat of potential missile attacks. Formulated in close coordination with defense and security officials, the procedures mandate the use of rapid-folding fabric sheets for vote counting to prevent ballot tampering during sirens, confirm that every polling site is mapped to certified bomb shelters, and designate Central Elections Committee Chairman Justice Noam Sohlberg as the sole authority empowered to pause or cancel voting if civilian lives are at risk.

The Central Elections Committee finalized an extensive emergency operational protocol on Sunday, designing specialized contingencies to maintain public voting and ensure ballot integrity in the event of missile fire on election day or during the subsequent multi-day vote-counting process.

The specialized procedures were drafted against the backdrop of heightened security alerts and synchronized assessments conducted alongside defense officials, establishing operational frameworks to keep democratic processes functioning safely under wartime pressures.

Under the newly instituted counting guidelines, all local polling station committees across the country will conduct manual vote counts upon custom-manufactured fabric sheets supplied to each committee. The textile base is designed to fold immediately into a secure bundle. If a rocket siren sounds during the active tally, poll workers can gather every paper ballot within seconds, preserve the chain of custody and the legal purity of the election, and safely evacuate the premises to certified protective structures.

Officials at the Central Elections Committee explained that the mechanism prevents ballots from remaining abandoned, compromised, or scattered across counting tables during an urgent evacuation, preserving public confidence in the vote tally even under extreme crisis conditions.

Meanwhile, election authorities have completed a nationwide spatial mapping of all polling venues and the central receiving and tabulation halls inside the Knesset. Over the past month, inspectors verified that every designated polling station across Israel has access to a certified bomb shelter situated within regulatory travel distance, in full alignment with Home Front Command defensive mandates.

The emergency regulations also define clear command hierarchy and legal jurisdiction. The protocol specifies that the sole authority empowered to order a temporary suspension of voting or counting—or to declare an outright cancellation of polling across a specific geographic district or nationwide—rests exclusively with the Chairman of the Central Elections Committee, Supreme Court Deputy President Justice Noam Sohlberg.

Any decision to suspend or alter voting will be made strictly following real-time consultations with defense establishment leaders and evaluated against the principle of preserving human life and ensuring the safety of voters, election workers, and accredited party observers. Security forces will maintain unbroken operational links with the Central Elections Committee throughout election day and the ensuing ballot tabulation phase, ensuring real-time responsiveness to evolving threat environments.
