Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf delivered an aggressive warning to Israel and the United States on Sunday morning, asserting that any violation of Iranian sovereignty would be met with retaliation "enemies are incapable of imagining." Addressing a public session of the Majlis, Ghalibaf insisted that threats of broad war and targeted assassinations will not force Tehran to compromise on its strategic objectives, claiming Washington has trapped itself in the conflict through severe miscalculations while acknowledging that skyrocketing consumer prices are crushing Iranian citizens and retirees at home.

Ghalibaf asserted that Tehran remains entirely undeterred by foreign military deterrence postures, warning that any hostile action aimed at compromising Iranian national sovereignty would encounter a response “that our adversaries are incapable of imagining.” He said Iran would refuse to bow to external coercion or let international powers dictate its geopolitical trajectory.

Directing sharp rhetoric at Jerusalem and Washington, the parliamentary leader accused the United States of waging a multifaceted campaign of economic sanctions, military threats, and media pressure to break the will of the Iranian populace. Drawing historical contrasts, Qalibaf claimed that modern-day Iran is fundamentally distinct from the pre-revolutionary regime of the Shah and has developed into a self-reliant regional power backed by domestic defensive industrial infrastructure.

Ghalibaf further contended that the United States had trapped itself in a direct standoff against Iran as a consequence of faulty strategic intelligence and operational miscalculations. He argued that the burden now rests entirely on Washington to modify its posture and de-escalate the confrontation. The speaker asserted that so long as the U.S. continues its operational threats and refuses to rectify past policy commitments, American diplomatic statements remain devoid of substance for the Islamic Republic.

Evoking the anti-Western doctrine articulated by Islamic Republic founder Ruhollah Khomeini, Ghalibaf attacked Israel’s defensive operations across regional fronts and reiterated Tehran’s overarching strategic objective to diminish and ultimately expel the American military footprint throughout the Middle East.

However, alongside the external threats, the parliament speaker offered a stark acknowledgment of the severe domestic crises afflicting the country. Ghalibaf admitted that runaway inflation and ongoing price surges in basic food staples and essentials are inflicting severe damage on the domestic population, creating an unsustainable economic burden on lower socioeconomic strata, working-class families, and retired citizens.
