New details are emerging about the shooting attack that took place Friday near Judea Junction: Israeli security officials estimate that the two terrorists, who arrived in a vehicle with Israeli license plates, planned to carry out a major attack against civilians. According to the assessment, a temporary checkpoint set up by Israeli forces prevented them from executing their plan.

The checkpoint was manned by soldiers from the Ari Battalion, a regular unit of the Home Front Command, during the battalion’s first operational deployment. When the attack began, the deputy battalion commander of the Ari Battalion and the deputy battalion commander of the 101st Battalion rushed to the scene and killed both terrorists.
Five people were wounded in the attack: two in critical condition, one in moderate condition, and two lightly wounded. Magen David Adom teams and IDF medical forces treated them at the scene.

Following the attack, large forces were rushed to the area, including soldiers from the Duvdevan special forces unit and aerial assets, who launched extensive searches. At the same time, several villages were placed under closure and traffic routes in the area were blocked.
