A serious shooting attack occurred today (Friday) on Route 60 in Judea, between the Judea Junction and Hebron. Five people were wounded in the gunfire: two in critical condition, one in moderate condition, and two lightly wounded. Magen David Adom teams and IDF medical forces rushed to the scene and began treating the victims.
According to reports from the field, the two critically wounded victims are still being treated at the scene. The moderate and lightly wounded are being evacuated to Shaare Zedek and Hadassah Ein Kerem hospitals in Jerusalem. Initial footage from the scene captured a chilling cry: “The terrorist is shooting at us the whole time,” illustrating the moments of terror.
The attack occurred near the Beit Hachil Bridge, when two terrorists opened fire on civilians. Shortly after, both terrorists were killed in an exchange of fire with Israeli forces who responded quickly. Following the attack, large numbers of troops were rushed to the area, including fighters from the Duvdevan unit and aerial assets, who began extensive sweeps.
An IDF spokesperson said, “Following the report of a shooting attack in the Judea Junction area of the Judea Brigade, two terrorists were eliminated. IDF forces are continuing sweeps.” At the same time, a cordon was placed on several villages in the area and major traffic routes in the region were blocked, as part of the effort to prevent the escape of accomplices or additional terrorists.
