Hadash Secretary-General Amjad Shbita appeared on the pro-Hezbollah Lebanese network Al-Mayadeen and laid out the Joint List's strict preconditions for extending a parliamentary "safety net" to a candidate seeking to form a government. Demanding an immediate halt to what he termed the "war of extermination" in Gaza, curbs on "settler terrorism" in Judea and Samaria, and the launch of a diplomatic horizon toward a 'Palestinian' peace process, Shbita defined these steps as the absolute minimum price required to keep an alternative government in power and block the right-wing bloc.

Hadash Secretary-General Amjad Shibita appeared last week on the Lebanese television network Al-Mayadeen—a media outlet widely recognized for its direct editorial alignment with Hezbollah and the Iranian regime—to outline the Joint List’s strict preconditions for extending a parliamentary “safety net” to an incoming Israeli government.

Hadash, running in the upcoming Knesset election as the Joint List’s leading faction alongside lawmakers such as Ayman Odeh and Ofer Cassif, dispatched its secretary-general to the weekly program Khalf al-Jidar (“Behind the Fence”), which focuses on domestic Israeli affairs from a hostile regional perspective.

During the broadcast, Shibita directly addressed scenarios in which the Joint List might support an anti-Netanyahu coalition from the outside, preventing its collapse while remaining outside the formal cabinet. “Another fundamental issue is opening a political horizon for a peace process with the ‘Palestinian’ Arab people, which will begin with stopping the war of extermination in the Gaza Strip and will also include curbing settler terrorism in the West Bank,” Shbita stated.

Emphasizing that these conditions constitute an unbending baseline for political negotiations, Shibita asserted: “This is a list of fundamental conditions that we present to anyone who wants to discuss us providing them with a safety net. This is the bare minimum for a government that we might reach a point of supporting, to prevent a government that is more extreme than it.“

The public statements on a foreign network closely aligned with the Axis of Resistance highlight the high political toll the Joint List intends to exact from any center-left bloc candidate who seeks to cobble together a minority administration. As campaign maneuvering intensifies ahead of election day, Shbita’s remarks make clear that any political entity relying on the Joint List’s parliamentary votes to govern will be expected to immediately halt the military campaign in the Gaza Strip and initiate far-reaching diplomatic concessions to the ‘Palestinians’.
