A senior Iranian security official warned on Wednesday via state-affiliated Fars TV that Tehran is fully prepared for a comprehensive, multi-layered war, declaring that any attack or targeted assassination will trigger retaliation "without limits or restraint." The official asserted that Iranian forces are primed to crush U.S. and Israeli regional assets. At the same time, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told the Financial Times that diplomatic negotiations remain stalled because trust in Washington has collapsed, coinciding with neighboring Iraq abruptly closing a key border crossing over security reassessments.

Tehran is prepared for an all-out, comprehensive, and multi-layered war against its regional adversaries, a senior Iranian security official told state-affiliated outlet Fars TV on Wednesday, issuing an unvarnished warning against military strikes or targeted killings. According to the official, the clerical regime has formalized a doctrine of immediate escalation in response to foreign intervention. “Iran has made a resolute decision to respond to any aggressive action, including killings and assassinations, without restrictions or restraint,” the official stated. The security figure issued direct threats against American and Israeli regional posture, adding that “Iran’s armed forces are fully prepared to crush all accessible interests and targets of the attackers and their supporters in the region.”

The source further argued that military action between the allies is inextricably linked, claiming that “the U.S. will not launch an attack without Israel, and Israel will not act without U.S. support.” He claimed that explicit deterrent warnings recently voiced by senior American and Israeli leadership have provided Tehran with a “legal basis and legitimacy to undertake defensive measures.”

The bellicose rhetoric coincided with remarks by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to the Financial Times, in which the top diplomat said negotiations have effectively broken down. Araghchi said there is currently no reason to expect diplomatic breakthroughs, accusing the United States of failing to show any serious intent to reach an understanding. His remarks followed assertions by senior regime figure Mohsen Rezaee, who stated that Tehran had entirely lost confidence in Washington and that the U.S. must take unilateral steps to rebuild trust before talks could resume.

Reflecting broader regional apprehensions over potential conflict escalation, neighboring Iraq enacted precautionary measures along its frontier on Wednesday. Iraqi security sources reported the sudden closure of a major border crossing with Iran, and officials told Reuters the checkpoint was shuttered for an urgent reassessment of local security readiness.
