A suspect was arrested in London's Stamford Hill after allegedly attacking multiple Jewish women while ignoring other passersby. Shomrim volunteers chased down and restrained the attacker until police arrived.

A man was arrested Monday in London after allegedly attacking multiple Jewish women in the Stamford Hill neighborhood. Video footage from the incident shows the attacker deliberately selecting women walking on the street as targets. Eyewitnesses said he passed by other pedestrians, including Jewish men, without confronting them, and focused his assaults solely on Jewish women.

During the incident, volunteers from the local Shomrim organization responded quickly. They chased the suspect through the neighborhood streets, overpowered him, and pinned him to the ground until police arrived. Officers arrested the suspect for criminal investigation, and residents of Stamford Hill expressed prolonged gratitude to the volunteers for their swift intervention that prevented further harm to innocent people and led to the attacker’s quick capture.

The targeted attacks raised alarm within Stamford Hill’s Jewish community. Residents and public figures said this crossed a red line and comes amid growing concern over rising antisemitic incidents in Britain. The community is calling on London law enforcement to handle the case severely and send a clear message against hate crimes.

This incident joins a series of serious antisemitic events that occurred in recent months in London, sparking heavy concern among the Jewish community. In May, a Jewish student was attacked outside a school in the Stamford Hill neighborhood, and in another incident, eggs were thrown at two Haredi men returning from synagogue with such force that one was knocked to the ground.

That same month, two young men were convicted of harassing Jews on the neighborhood’s streets while filming videos for social media. Earlier, in late April, two Jews were stabbed in the Golders Green neighborhood in an incident police defined as a terror attack, and in recent months ambulances belonging to the Jewish rescue organization were set on fire and attempts were made to torch synagogues.

Following the wave of attacks, London police announced the establishment of a dedicated unit to protect the Jewish community, comprising about 100 officers. According to data from the British Community Security Trust (CST), in the first half of 2026, an average of 321 antisemitic incidents per month were recorded in the UK, nearly double the average in the corresponding period before the October 7, 2023 attack.
