President Donald Trump on Monday addressed the escalating fighting between the Houthi rebels in Yemen and Saudi Arabia, criticizing the group’s conduct. According to Trump, the Houthis resumed operations after a long period of quiet.

“The Houthis are behaving very badly. I thought they learned their lesson a year ago, when we bombed the hell out of them and stopped at their request,” Trump said. “They were quiet for a long time, but now they’ve popped up again, probably on Iran’s orders.” Trump claimed Iran is “a failed state, without a navy and without an air force,” and accused the Houthis of attacking Saudi Arabia and deliberately trying to drive up oil prices before the U.S. election. “Not nice. I’ll be there after the election, and I will never forget,” the American president concluded.
