Knesset member Yasser Hujairat of the Ra’am party, which has ties to the Muslim Brotherhood jihadi organization, said in an interview with i24 News that Hamas is partly a “charity organization.” During the interview, Hujairat was asked directly whether he defines Hamas as a terror organization but refused to give a straight answer. Instead, the lawmaker claimed it’s an organization where “part of it deals with charity” and the other part wants the right to exist and recognition as a state. He added an outrageous statement equating both sides of the conflict, asking what the difference is when there are casualties.

A sharp response to Hujairat’s remarks came quickly from Netanyahu’s Likud, which slammed the statements and warned of their political implications. “A member of Ra’am, the partner of Eisenkot, Liberman and Bennett, says Hamas is a charity organization that wants to receive existence and recognition as a state,” Likud said. The party emphasized that the upcoming elections are fateful and represent a choice “between the right and ‘Palestine’,” warning that these forces will form a government with the Arab parties that define the murderous terror organization as a charity.
The comments come as Israel marks three years since the murderous massacre carried out by the Hamas terror organization in Gaza border communities. A C14 review of the public accounts of Ra’am, the Joint List and their senior officials found no memorial posts for the murdered or expressions of solidarity with victims’ families as of publication. Knesset member Yoav Segalovitz, who joined Ra’am, also posted no reference to the memorial day. The Joint List, meanwhile, chose to focus on events in the Gaza Strip and called for stopping what they termed “the genocide.”
