According to the IDF, the jihadist infiltrated Israel during the October 7 massacre and was killed to remove the immediate threat he posed to Israeli security.
Details of the operation show that Abu Owaymer had recently been advancing multiple terror plots against IDF soldiers and Israeli civilians. At the same time, he was actively working to rebuild Hamas’s operational capabilities—all while systematically violating the ceasefire. Based on his dangerous activities and accumulated intelligence, Israeli forces carried out the precision airstrike.
