Israeli airline El Al announced Wednesday evening that it is preparing to resume direct passenger flights on the Tel Aviv–Dubai route in November. The announcement comes after an eight-month suspension dating back to Operation “Lion’s Roar”, during which Israeli air carriers were prohibited from operating commercial flights along the corridor.

According to the airline’s official announcement, El Al plans to operate scheduled services to Dubai with at least two daily flights. However, operations will resume only after securing all required formal approvals and security clearances from the relevant state and civil aviation authorities.
The announcement comes against the dramatic backdrop of the foiled terror attack earlier today aboard flydubai Flight FZ1073 en route to Tel Aviv. According to confirmed details, the airliner’s Omani first officer stabbed the captain and attempted to crash the passenger jet deliberately. A catastrophic disaster was averted through the swift, heroic intervention of passengers and off-duty aviators, who breached the cockpit, subdued the attacker, and safely brought the aircraft to an emergency diversion in Saudi Arabia.
