The fighters of the IDF's elite Golani Brigade Combat Team concluded an intensive combat tour in southern Lebanon on Wednesday, rotating out for operational rest after demolishing over 900 Hezbollah terror targets under the command of the 36th Division. Focusing operations on the strategic Beaufort Ridge and conducting targeted deep raids reaching all the way to the Litani River, Golani forces systematically seized extensive weapons depots, explosive drones, and subterranean launch bunkers, neutralizing direct cross-border threats against Israel's northern border communities.

After months of intense combat in southern Lebanon, the Golani Brigade’s battle team, operating under the 36th Division, is completing its mission in the security zone and rotating out for rest. Throughout recent months, brigade forces fought along the historic Beaufort Ridge and adjacent sectors, aiming to push back threats to northern Israeli communities. In a focused operation recently completed, the fighters reached the Litani River area, where they uncovered and destroyed Hezbollah weapons stockpiles and compounds—part of a total tally of more than 900 terror infrastructure sites destroyed.

The summary of the “Brown-Green” brigade’s activity in southern Lebanon illustrates the depth of the blow to Hezbollah’s systems. Golani’s battle team focused its main effort on the strategic Beaufort Ridge, a control point that has served terror operatives past and present for observation and launching attacks into Israeli territory. Through systematic and persistent operations, the fighters exposed hiding systems, command posts, and launch pits, destroying over 900 terror targets.

Alongside clearing the terrain, forces raided a chain of camouflaged weapons storage facilities. Inside the compounds, they seized extensive quantities of munitions intended for raids and fire toward border communities: dozens of RPG rockets, high-powered explosive charges, Kalashnikov rifles, and advanced explosive drones. The latest operation in the Litani area dealt another blow to the organization’s capabilities in the region and prevented attempts to re-entrench near the strategic waterway.

As the mission concluded and forces withdrew, brigade commander Colonel Ayyub Kayuf led an emotional combat closure ceremony in the field. In his remarks to the fighters, the commander emphasized the brigade’s values: “In these months we operated under the Golani spirit. In Golani we always win; we never return without completing the mission; we never break; commanders lead at eye level; we preserve the courage and legacy of the fallen; and we remain human—even in the face of the enemy. This is how we operated and how we will continue to operate.”

Colonel Kayuf dwelled on the price of bereavement and injuries exacted by the fighting, but pointed to the direct security achievement beyond the border: “The fighting in these months had a heavy price that we paid, but there is also a return. Look around you: communities conducting their lives and celebrating holidays, businesses open and kindergartens continuing their routine. This is what we fought for and continue to fight for.”

Golani’s battle team activity was conducted as part of the IDF’s broader effort to establish a security zone cleared of terror infrastructure in southern Lebanon, preventing anti-tank fire and infiltration threats to frontline communities. The combination of clearing Hezbollah strongholds on the Beaufort Ridge with deep raids to the Litani area was designed to cut the organization’s supply lines and deny it the ability to recover quickly. The Golani fighters’ rotation out for rest comes after months of difficult attrition, as the intelligence and infrastructure uncovered give the IDF broad operational freedom to keep the north quiet.
