Syrian authorities confirmed on Monday that no fatalities were recorded in an explosion that struck a military ammunition depot in the northern city of Aleppo over the past 24 hours. The blast occurred at a Syrian Armed Forces site located in the area. “There were no deaths resulting from the explosion, and injuries sustained were minor only,” official sources stated. Authorities added that emergency response units and defense ministry personnel are operating on site with extreme caution due to the risk of secondary detonations, working to secure the area and ensure public safety.

The Syrian Ministry of Defense announced that it has launched an investigation to establish the circumstances that triggered the detonations inside the arms storage facility. Defense officials said relevant technical units are working to determine the cause of the blast, without disclosing details about the types of munitions stored at the site or the full extent of the structural damage.
The Defense Ministry pledged to publish the findings as soon as it concludes the inquiry. Its initial bulletin did not specify whether the incident resulted from a technical mishap or hostile action. According to Syrian Civil Defense, two civilians suffered temporary respiratory distress from heavy smoke, while another individual was injured in a traffic collision while attempting to flee the sector. Civil defense teams evacuated three families from residential buildings adjacent to the blast radius.

The incident in Aleppo follows a string of recent warehouse blasts across the country. Just days ago, Syrian authorities reported that 11 military personnel were killed in an unexplained explosion inside an arms depot in the eastern part of the country. That blast occurred shortly after five people were killed earlier this month when an ammunition-laden vehicle detonated in the same eastern province.
