Governor Yisrael Ganz, head of the Benjamin (Binyamin) Regional Council and chairman of the Yesha Council, arrived a short time ago Sunday at the scene of the shooting attack near Neveh Tzuf in the Benjamin region and expressed outrage, “Residents come before Yom Kippur to immerse in the spring, a terrorist arrives armed with an M16 and opens fire on them.”
1+Regarding the search efforts for the terrorist who fled the scene on foot, the council head added: “IDF forces, police, Shin Bet, Border Police—everyone is hunting for the terrorist who is still here in the area. This is a very difficult incident but we are strong and we will get through this too.” At the end of his remarks, the council head sought to project optimism and strength despite the pain, and concluded with a firm and clear message: “This is a very difficult incident but we are strong and we will get through this too. God willing, during Sukkot this place will be filled with hikers. No one will drive us out of here.”
1+The attack occurred when the terrorist arrived by vehicle at the Ein Ria spring area near the community, exited with a long-barreled weapon, and opened fire at civilians who were at the site ahead of the holiday.
As a result of the shooting, a man around 30 was critically wounded. Multiple medical teams rushed to the scene, provided initial medical treatment, and evacuated him while performing resuscitation efforts. After carrying out the shooting, the terrorist fled on foot from the location and disappeared, leading to an urgent situation assessment and security forces entering high alert.
