Relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia remain tense following the escalation with the Houthis, and now an Iranian minister has arrived in the kingdom’s capital. The minister is set to participate in an international technology forum being held in the Arab kingdom. The visit comes shortly after an unusual launch by the pro-Iranian terror organization toward Saudi Arabia—during which alarms were activated even in Islam’s holiest city.
An Iranian government plane landed today (Tuesday) in the Saudi capital Riyadh, according to Iran’s Tasnim news agency. Iran’s Minister of Science, Research and Technology leads the delegation. The minister arrived to participate in UNESCO’s Fourth Global Forum on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence. During the visit, in addition to participating in the forum’s programs, the science minister will hold meetings and talks with officials and representatives from participating countries.
The announcement came less than two hours after alarms sounded in the Saudi cities of Jeddah, Taif, and even Mecca—Islam’s holiest city. According to reports, the alarms were triggered following a missile launch by the Houthi terror organization, a group backed by Iran.
