The Sultanate of Oman’s Maritime Security Centre confirmed that emergency rescue operations successfully evacuated all 23 crew members from the stricken tanker as maritime authorities monitor the unfolding situation.

The Maritime Security Center of the Sultanate of Oman reported that a fire broke out in the engine room of an oil tanker after a targeted maritime attack earlier in the day. According to Omani maritime authorities, emergency search-and-rescue teams evacuated 23 crew members from the damaged vessel. The maritime agency continues to assess the extent of the tanker’s damage while monitoring surrounding navigational lanes for potential environmental and security hazards after the strike.
