The strike continues a series of operations against Hamas operatives in Gaza and Judea and Samaria in recent days. Over the weekend, Israeli forces struck a commander in Hamas’s military wing in Deir al-Balah, and in another strike killed two terrorists in northern Gaza, including a Nukhba force company commander.

The IDF emphasized that the strikes were carried out to remove the threat posed by terrorists who were advancing terror operations and violating the agreements. Meanwhile, Southern Command forces remain deployed in the area in accordance with the agreement and will continue to act to remove any immediate threat.

The strikes come against the backdrop of unusual activity earlier in Gaza City, following the escape and eventual capture by Israeli forces of Hamas’s chief of general security, Moein al-Araabid.
