Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian sent a conciliatory message to the United States today, saying Tehran is prepared to take similar steps if Washington returns to its commitments under the memorandum of understanding between the two sides.
“Sustainable security is not achieved through confrontation, but through mutual trust, respect for the sovereignty of states, and non-interference in their affairs,” Pezeshkian said. He stressed that Iran views mutual return to commitments as a possible foundation for moving forward with the United States.
But the Iranian president also delivered a sharp message to Washington and Jerusalem, claiming that Iran forced the United States and Israel to cease fire and end their “aggression” in what he called the “40-day war.”
Pezeshkian added that violations of commitments by the United States were met with a “proportionate” Iranian response, but made clear that if the American administration returns to the framework of understandings, Iran will act accordingly and take similar steps.
