“Iran is officially a failed state. It is dead!” Trump wrote. According to the president, Iran has “no navy, no air force and no currency.” He further claimed that the regime is no longer paying its soldiers and police officers and that inflation in the country has reached 300%. Trump said Iran’s leadership is in “total chaos” and is no longer capable of properly representing the country. He then turned to the regime’s violent suppression of anti-government demonstrations, claiming that more than 100,000 protesters have been killed.

“They must be held accountable for war crimes against humanity,” Trump wrote. The U.S. president concluded by saying that all the Iranian regime has left is “fake news from the U.S.,” a willingness to kill its protesters and “a good line of ‘BULLSHIT.’” Trump’s remarks come amid escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran and Iranian threats to retaliate for recent American actions in the region.
