Syria confirmed that Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani and senior Syrian intelligence officials met with senior Israeli intelligence officials in Jordan, with American mediation, “as part of efforts to de-escalate tensions between the sides and strengthen stability in Syria and the region.”
According to Syria, the talks also focused on efforts to strengthen stability in the country and maintain regional security, including attempts to narrow the gaps between Israel and Turkey and prevent tensions between them from spilling into Syrian territory.
Syria said the meeting focused on practical steps to de-escalate tensions and exploring the possibility of returning to negotiations. Syria emphasized that any security arrangement must respect its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and sovereign rights.
