Azam Gharibabadi, Iran’s deputy foreign minister for legal and international affairs, responded Tuesday to U.S. President Donald Trump’s post about the Strait of Hormuz, claiming that Trump’s perception of the strategic waterway is a “delusion” that will soon be corrected.

The Iranian response came after Trump posted an image on Truth Social showing a map of the Strait of Hormuz alongside parts of Iran, the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman. Across the top of the image were the words “America’s New Territory,” while the Strait of Hormuz was circled.
Gharibabadi lashed out at Trump over the post, claiming that the message presented by the U.S. president regarding the Strait of Hormuz did not reflect reality. “Soon, Trump’s delusion regarding the Strait of Hormuz will be corrected, or we will correct the delusions of this delusional man,” he said.

The remarks come amid mounting tensions surrounding the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most strategically important shipping routes, and the ongoing confrontation between Washington and Tehran over control and passage through the region.
