A 32-year-old ‘Palestinian’ Arab man living illegally in Israel was arrested Monday on suspicion of sexually assaulting a 26-year-old woman in her home on Kurt Tucholsky Street in Jaffa. Police said the suspect was found hiding at a construction site after fleeing the scene.
1+Police received a call Monday afternoon from the woman, who said she woke up in the morning in a panic and saw a man allegedly assaulting her. According to her account, the suspect is a construction worker who works in her building and had previously entered her apartment to handle electrical system repairs. After she woke up and screamed, the suspect fled the apartment.
1+Detectives from the Ayalon District arrived at the scene, obtained a description of the suspect from the complainant, and launched extensive searches using technological tools. The suspect was later found hiding at a construction site and arrested.
The suspect was taken to the police station for questioning. He is expected to be brought to Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court today for a hearing on the police’s request to extend his detention.
