U.S. President Donald Trump claimed Wednesday that the United States has achieved total control over the strategic Strait of Hormuz and made clear his intention to maintain it. According to Trump, the naval blockade in the region—dubbed “Steel Wall”—has left Iran with no capacity to challenge American power.
In a post published earlier Wednesday, Trump launched a blistering attack on Iran’s military and economic standing. He asserted that the Iranians no longer possess a functioning navy or air force, that soldiers are going unpaid, and that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has suffered devastating blows. Trump added that Iran’s leadership remains in a state of disarray while the country’s economy teeters on total collapse. He noted that Iran is grappling with hyperinflation reaching 300%, emphasizing that the regime has transformed from the “bully of the Middle East” into a hollow state capable only of issuing empty threats.
“Iran is all talk and no action—the bully of the Middle East no more,” Trump wrote.
