Tech entrepreneur Oren Dobronsky responded overnight to public backlash following his appointment as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's first reserved candidate on the Likud slate. Dobronsky defended his decision to enter public service, questioning why successful business leaders are vilified when attempting to contribute to the nation's political landscape.

Tech entrepreneur Oren Dobronsky—Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s first reserved candidate on the Likud party slate—addressed overnight (Wednesday) the deluge of reactions surrounding his entry into politics, expressing gratitude to thousands of supporters while firing back at critics: “If this is how you treat newcomers, why on earth should good people make this sacrifice for you and the future of your children here?”

Dobronsky expressed hope that additional business owners and tech entrepreneurs will choose to enter political life, emphasizing: “I am here to build and repair what needs fixing. Our wonderful country is deeply precious and worth fighting for.” Addressing critics directly, Dobronsky voiced frustration over double standards: “People constantly complain here that there are too many career apparatchiks in politics, and then when a successful figure from the business world actually steps up and makes an immense personal sacrifice, you immediately look for ways to crucify him?” He added: “That’s fine, I understand you disagree with my views, but come on—a little statesmanship, a little patience, a little class. Why not give credit even when someone isn’t on your political side? Don’t worry, I promise you’ll have plenty of opportunities not to agree with me.”
