Israel-based travelers looking for a new winter destination in Italy will soon have another direct option: Sun d’Or will launch flights to Verona in northern Italy starting late October. The new route adds to the expanding lineup of European destinations for the winter season.
The first flight to Verona is scheduled for October 25, operating twice weekly on Sundays and Thursdays. Round-trip tickets start at $299, with the base fare including a carry-on trolley and personal item.
Verona is particularly appealing in winter months because the city can serve as a launching point for a broader tour of northern Italy. Within a short drive, travelers can reach Lake Garda and, depending on the season, ski resorts in the northern part of the country. That makes it possible to combine an urban getaway with nature, lakes, and winter sports.
Verona itself offers a mix of old-city charm, historic buildings, piazzas, restaurants, and markets—and is known worldwide as the setting for Romeo and Juliet. The city sits between Milan and Venice, so it can also fit into a longer northern Italy itinerary.
The new route comes at a time when direct flight options to various European destinations are shifting, and many travelers are looking for places they can reach directly from Israel without relying on connecting flights. Meanwhile, Sun d’Or is set to operate flights to 12 destinations during the upcoming winter season. Among them are Larnaca and Paphos in Cyprus, Batumi and Tbilisi in Georgia, Tirana in Albania, Chișinău in Moldova, Belgrade in Serbia, Krakow and Warsaw in Poland, Salzburg in Austria, Lyon in France, and now Verona.
For travelers, that means a relatively diverse selection of destinations in the coming months for short European getaways—from major cities to spots better suited for nature trips, skiing, and winter vacations.
