Following our initial report that the political leadership approved a series of significant offensive operations across several sectors in Judea and Samaria, the IDF and Shin Bet announced that our forces began a counterterrorism, enforcement, arrest, and interrogation operation overnight (Wednesday) in the Qalandiya area within the Binyamin Brigade sector. Forces continue operating at this hour in the Qalandiya camp near Ramallah and in Kafr Aqab in Jerusalem.
According to the announcement, the operation aims to disrupt and thwart organizational capabilities of terror groups in the region, expand freedom of action for security forces following numerous violent incidents during recent entries into the area, and enhance overall security in the sector.
As part of the operation, we reported that the IDF distributed leaflets to residents of the Qalandiya terror camp stating: “As you can see, there is no shelter for terrorism. IDF forces have begun an extensive operation in the area against terrorists. We will use all means, anywhere and anytime, to thwart any attempt to execute acts of terror. Any attempt to harm Israeli civilians or Israeli security forces exposes perpetrators to live fire and arrest.”
