IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir conducted a field tour in the Gaza Strip today (Wednesday), during which he held a dialogue with commanders in the sector.
Battalion commanders presented him with an operational situational assessment, after which he spoke with division and brigade commanders operating in the area, expressing his appreciation to the troops and commanders acting in Gaza to protect the residents of the State of Israel.
Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir stated: “We are applying the security doctrine we defined—not only here, but along all of Israel’s borders. In the Gaza Strip, we hit Hamas, weakened it significantly, and fundamentally changed the security landscape. The IDF will continue to act with initiative and follow the core principle we established—to remove threats and in every situation defend the communities and residents, ensuring their safety. We will not allow a threat to form on our borders as we experienced on October 7th.”
The Chief of Staff added: “I wish to express immense appreciation to Southern Command and the divisions operating in the sector for their ongoing initiative, determination, and offensive spirit. A tangible example of this is the relentless pursuit of Nukhba terrorists and all those who participated in planning and executing the October 7th massacre. This is a permanent, ongoing mission that the command is fulfilling with great success. The images from the communities, the Bibas family, the female field observers, and all victims of the October 7th massacre stand before our eyes every single day. We will continue to pursue those responsible and will not relent until we settle the score with everyone who played a part in the massacre—sooner or later. This is a permanent and ongoing mission.”
Finally, he said: “We must continue operating to defend the residents of the Gaza envelope. Your defense and security are our objective—we will continue working to fortify security. We have fundamentally altered the security situation, and we will continue operating to guarantee that the IDF stands at the forefront of the communities, protecting the communities and residents and safeguarding their security.”
